3. Public Service Media

3.1. Public Service Media Mission, Governance and Independence

The Media Outlet shall describe its public service mission and the legal instrument on which it is based. It shall describe its governance structure, including the role of all relevant governance bodies or organisations (for example, regulator, supervisory board, government/parliament role). It shall state how its financial income is generated and what proportion of its financial resources are totally or partially provided by public funds. It shall state if both external and internal governance measures guarantee its editorial independence.

Currently, we do not have any official relationship with any local businesses or state organizations. But we have official membership of the International Fact-checking Network at Poynter institute and Meta as their Third party fact-checking partner. We also carry out short term grant funded projects that support our mission in combatting disinformation.

The following activities generate income for the Nest Center:

- Meta’s Third Party Fact-checking Program
- Grant funding
- Training for newsrooms and journalists
- Fact-checking services

The Nest Center for Journalism Innovation and Development guarantees editorial independence providing necessary tools and finances for Mongolian Fact-checking Center. Furthermore, editorial independence is sustained by editorial members including fact-checkers and editor-in-chief.
