16. Professionalism in the Media Outlet

16.1. Recruitment and Training

There shall be professional guidelines for the recruitment and training of editorial staff. This includes responsibilities for implementing diversity policy and staff welfare. Recruitment policy, (use of open competition etc.) and staff welfare principles should be publicly available.

16.2. Working Conditions, Contract Policy and Labour Relations

Journalistic principles and practice should be supported by the organisational environment including protection for journalistic integrity through adherence to labour laws and regulations, transparency of contract policy and freedom to organise. The duration or nature of the contract should not inhibit a journalist from operating in an ethical manner and the organisation structure should protect that principle.

16.3. Staff Welfare

Responsibility for the welfare of staff and those contracted on a freelance basis should be an important part of a Media Outlet’s role. Organisational Editorial Guidelines should be protective against any form of discrimination and supportive of equality of opportunity. It should ensure safety at work and in the working environment (including remote and online) and have guidelines, which support staff who have been exposed to material of a sensitive or upsetting nature or have suffered physical or psychological harm in the course of their work.

Thématique faisant partie du projet de groupe 2021-2024, des sensibilisations sous diverses formes sont proposées régulièrement aux collaborateurs. Une procédure interne de signalement est existante et communiquée au minimum chaque année. La chargée de la santé et de la qualité de vie et des conditions de travail au sein des ressources humaines a la charge de traiter les signalements et situations incluant de la discrimination sur le lieu de travail.

Les journalistes, techniciens et autres personnels se rendant dans des zones de tournages à risque suivent une formation spécifique sur le sujet, ainsi qu’une formation relative aux gestes de premiers secours.
Par ailleurs, le risque d’exposition aux contenus violents est inscrit dans le Document Unique d’évaluation des risques professionnels. Il est suivi régulièrement entre les membres de la CSSCT et les RH.

Des formations relatives à la prévention de l’exposition aux contenus violents sont menées chaque année, les managers sont sensibilisés sur le sujet, un groupe de travail interne est constitué, un groupe d’écoutants internes et volontaires de premier niveau est disponible auprès des collaborateurs ainsi qu’une cellule d’écoute psychologique.

Les débordements de comportements sont thématisés et traités par les responsables et/ou les ressources humaines. Le risque de harcèlement et/ou d’agressions est identifié dans le Document Unique d’évaluation des risques professionnels. Par ailleurs, une référente sur les sujets du harcèlement moral, sexuel et des agissements sexistes est nommée pour la direction ainsi que deux référents pour le CSE.
