2. Editorial Mission
2.1. Editorial Mission Statement
The Media Outlet shall disclose its editorial mission statement which shall be consistent with the fundamental ethical principles of trustworthy journalism, and, as described in the Preamble, should incorporate principles of: ethical practice, good governance, self-regulation and Engagement with the public. A Media Outlet shall set out how it proposes to uphold these journalism principles through its Editorial Guidelines and processes which shall include arrangements in relation to internal accountability and of appropriate external accountability (see clauses 9 – 15). Best practice is to have these arrangements codified and made available publicly.

Editorial mission is defined as follows:
"The mission of Latvian public service media is to serve the public interests by creating programming and other types of content according to the highest professional standards.
The role of public service media is determined by the public's interests in receiving accurate information about decisions, processes and events affecting their lives, overseeing political, economic and judicial powers, reinforcing the rule of law and social well-being, ensuring a safe environment, reducing injustice and inequality, providing quality education, healthcare and social protection, supporting national culture, preserving nature and countering the impact of misleading information.
In creating content, public service media shall uphold and defend human rights, democratic institutions and moral principles and oppose all forms of discrimination.
Public service media shall inquire into the interests of different societal groups and provide a platform for discussing issues they consider important.
Public service media shall promote diversity of opinions and encourage socially significant discussions, helping people form their own views and make informed decisions.
Public service media shall be particularly attentive to the needs of vulnerable and at-risk societal groups, ensuring that the actions of media do not cause harm to these groups and contribute to their sense of safety."
