It was Monday, October 27, 1980, when the first issue of the newspaper *“O Chronos”* was published by Nikos Kostarellas. The founder’s goal was for *“O Chronos”* to be useful to the community, and in its code of honor to readers, it was written:
*"The sole political stance of *O Chronos* adheres to the following fundamental principles:
– Always tell the truth,
– Be a platform for the people,
– Serve everyone."*
Now entering its fifth decade, *“O Chronos”* feels the same obligation to serve the community with dedication and independence, adapting to new conditions.
What matters most to us is strengthening the demands of the local community and giving a voice to those who cannot be heard. Facing new challenges such as the climate crisis and the transition to a new low-carbon era, we continue to assert our role in this evolving landscape.
In 2023, we became a member of the United Nations SDG Compact, joining the global family of 300 media outlets that steadfastly support sustainable development.
Day by day, we are becoming more outward-looking through initiatives such as first-aid training in collaboration with EKAV (the National Center for Emergency Care), believing that for local media to remain relevant to people's lives, it must engage actively with society.
In challenging times, when we all seek stability, *“O Chronos”* aims to be a constant for the local community, guided by the public interest. For this reason, our pages, both print and digital, are open to anything that may concern, trouble, or interest you.
