2. Editorial Mission

2.1. Editorial Mission Statement

The Media Outlet shall disclose its editorial mission statement which shall be consistent with the fundamental ethical principles of trustworthy journalism, and, as described in the Preamble, should incorporate principles of: ethical practice, good governance, self-regulation and Engagement with the public. A Media Outlet shall set out how it proposes to uphold these journalism principles through its Editorial Guidelines and processes which shall include arrangements in relation to internal accountability and of appropriate external accountability (see clauses 9 – 15). Best practice is to have these arrangements codified and made available publicly.

1. FM99 is an independent radio station that aims to inform and educate on important issues in the Alytus region, Lithuania and in the world and to provide
quality entertainment for its listeners and readers.
2. Radio station FM99 belongs to JSC "Alytaus radijas" founder and the main shareholder - Liudas Ramanauskas, 91.7% of shares. Vida Grišmanauskiene owns 8.3% of the shares.
3. We work for our listeners and readers, we are accountable to them and indirectly to society as a whole.
4. The main principle and value of our activity is respect for people rights and fundamental freedoms.
5. When gathering news, our top priority is the public interest.
6. We always use fair means to obtain information, except cases where it is necessary and justified by the public interest.
7. Where possible, we ensure the reliability of our messages in order to receive
confirmation of independent sources.
8. We do not attempt to obtain or use information obtained from children,
persons with mental disabilities, except in cases where it is acceptable to their
parents or guardians and is justified by the public interest.
9. We avoid revealing the identity of victims of crime or disaster, unless
would be justified by the public interest.
10. We aim to report news as quickly as possible without compromising its accuracy.
11. We publish our prepared or reliable sources of information such as
monitoring of news agencies BNS and ELTA.
12. By publishing press releases with relevant information about it we inform you.
13. We never allow anyone else to edit our posts but our editorial team.
14. We do not accept any payments or gifts and refuse personal benefit that could be considered a direct or indirect test to influence the delivery of our messages.
15. Employees must report potential conflicts of interest to their manager.
16. Editorial staff to engage in paid activities unrelated to FM99 is allowed if it does not give rise to any conflict of interest and manager approved it.
17. When using visual material provided by an external source, we indicate who
submitted it.
